The problem and issue with your entire essay is that you value your opinion above God's. What God values and says to do is more important than what your idea of idealogical change is. Martyn understands this on a deeper level and what he is proposing is that those who are already advocating in parliament for these changes irrespective of what party need to remain there. If you are involved in politics you would know that. A complete swing for new parties won't change overnight and holding onto those who are making changes in Parliament and advocating for godly principles is more important than choosing new parties who have no experience and have never actually done something to bring about actual change in parliament. I would say your naive and inexperience is obvious in the way that you criticise the sole entity standing for Christians and God in parliamentary affairs and rather than supporting you are criticising. Throwing dirt at someone who is actually doing more than you isn't bringing unity within brethren and I believe a true activist would know that unity and support of true godly moves from God which Martyn totally has God's support having met the man myself. I would say God can and will do what He sees fit and figuring out what our individual role that is in this world is more important than criticising someone for magnificent efforts. The ACL is amazing and so is Martyn.

I also support the ACL. This article was written to criticize a singular aspect of Martyn's approach to the federal election. And the election result I think proved I was right. Many Christians and conservatives find the Liberal party repugnant and they are likely to never again be elected without significant change. I want to see that change expedited and not delayed.

And the outcome of Martyn's election strategy actually worked toward achieving what I argued was needed: a complete disempowering of the Liberal party. Praise God! But still hanging on to the one or two Christian Liberal party devotees has proved equally fruitless in my opinion. These people are now more than ever disempowered and their voices unheard. Just final standing pillars holding up a corrupt establishment as I argued they would be. Will God use them nonetheless, I suspect so, but could they have been used elsewhere to expedite political change, I think so!

If you think the ACL is above criticism on all accounts then you may have an idol. Nobody gets it right every time, not even Martyn. He is still a young man and somewhat new to the job. It seems odd to suggest others cannot compare or offer an counter opinion. You should not make comments that rely on assumptions about the work I do or my experience in politics. You don't know the sacrifices and blood, sweat & tears that other people have made, including Martyn himself.

You may have Martyn on such a high pedestal that you are offended when others offer a counter opinion. Even we Christians have our celebrity idols! Martyn himself would tell you he is not worthy of that status. Let us not operate on that "blind emotional devotee" kind of level - it is foolish and of the world. We Christians must restrict our criticisms to the merit of the arguments themselves just as I did when I evaluated Martyn's election strategy.
